Sri Lanka Vs New Zealand Twenty20 tied 1-1

The Sri Lanka Vs New Zealand Twenty20 international cricket series was tied 1-1.

The Sri Lankan cricket team did not seem to take the Twenty20 cricket series seriously and rested both Jayasurya and Muralitharan – the principal matchwinners of the Sri Lankan cricket team for the second Twenty20 cricket series.

Nathan Astle, was not rested by New Zealand despite his injuries and he justified his selection in the second Twenty20 international with a match winning knock.

Isnt it time, international cricket  teams around the world fielded their best teams for a Twenty20 international cricket match?

Is Twenty20 cricket a boon for spin bowlers?

As Sri Lanka take on New Zealand in the Twenty20 international match on Friday, we come back to the age old question-Should spin bowlers be selected for limited overs cricket?

In the good old days when one day international cricket matches began, spinners were generally not selected or relegated to a supporting role.

Nowadays,in limited overs cricket internationals, spinners very often form the basis of the  bowling attack and Twenty20 cricket internationals are no exception.

In fact, very often, spinners bowl the last few overs in Twenty 20 international cricket matches and this trend is expected to continue in this golden era of spin bowlers with the variety of Shane Warne, Muralitharan,Daniel Vettori and Anil Kumble

Twenty20 cricket series- New Zealand Vs Sri Lanka

The Sri Lanka Vs New Zealand two-match Twenty20 cricket series begins on Friday. Sri Lanka are an outstanding cricket team and they demonstrated this by levelling the test cricket series against New Zealand.

Sri Lanka are probably one of the few subcontinent cricket teams to have ever played so well in New Zealand.

The Twenty20 cricket series between Sri Lanka and New Zealand begins on Friday. New Zealand will miss the services of Daniel Vettori who is one of the most underrated bowlers of world cricket. Daniel Vettori is also probably one of the best all-rounders of world cricket today.

In the Twenty20 cricket series- Sri Lanka will once again rely on the great Muralitharan to spin them to victory.

Twenty 20 world cup coming up!

You are excited about the one day international cricket World cup in the West Indies coming up early next year. Hey,perhaps you should skip the cricket one day international World cup in the West Indies.

A Twenty20 world cup cricket tournament will be held in South Africa next year. 2007 will the year when Twenty20 cricket tournaments will overthrow the reign of one day international cricket matches

Exciting test cricket matches will dent Twenty20 craze?

Its good news that current test cricket matches such as the Sri Lanka Vs New Zealand test cricket series in New Zealand, the Ashes test cricket series in Australia and the surprising India Vs South Africa test cricket series in South Africa have produced exciting cricket

But,hey,Twenty20 cricket is here to stay-  Twenty20 cricket’s rather unique achievement of bringing back the zing to world cricket is unsurpassed. The Twenty20 cricket tournament in England, the Twenty20 cup and the Stanford Twenty20 cricket matches have brought the spectators back to world cricket.

Can you even compare the number of spectators to a Twenty20 domestic cricket tournament to an international test cricket match? Twenty20 cricket wins hands down!

Will Twenty20 cricket replace traditional test and one day international cricket?

Do you really think Twenty20 cricket internationals will replace traditional test and one day international cricket matches?

Of course, Twenty20 cricket international matches will coexist with cricket one day international matches and test matches
