Standard Bank Pro20 Twenty20 cricket Tournament throws up another unlikely cricket hero in Morkel

Twenty20 cricket has a penchant for creating unlikely heroes- Another Twenty20 cricket hero was born in the Standard Bank Pro20 Twenty20 cricket tournament in South Africa in the form of Albie Morkel. Albie Morkel’s Titans was tottering at 108/5 off 15 overs, chasing a huge score of 170 runs, but the finals of the Standard Bank Pro20 Twenty20 cricket tournament was to see a surprise when Albie Morkel scored 20 runs off each of two successive overs to bring the Titans back into the Pro20 finals.

Twenty20 cricket gets a break

Twenty20 cricket is taking a break

Twenty20 cricket is taking a break as the international cricket teams around the world get prepared for the one day cricket bonanza- the cricket World cup,2007.

The Twenty20 cricket world cup is not far away

The Twenty20 cricket world cup is really close on the international cricket agenda, as the world cricket teams get prepared for a cricket series that promises a lot of fun and entertainment

The Twenty20 World cup in South Africa and the cricket one day international World cup in West Indies will both be successful

The Twenty20 cricket World cup in South Africa and the one day international cricket world cup in the West Indies will give the cricketing world an opportunity to compare the two forms of cricket in terms of fun and spectator involvement. Our guess is that cricket spectators will give a thumbs up to Twenty20 cricket in comparison to one day international cricket matches

Indian cricket team’s first Twenty20 cricket win

Indian cricket team’s first twenty20 win

The Indian cricket team’s first win in Twenty20 cricket internationals against South Africa was both unexpected and a real morale boost for international Twenty20 cricket

Indian cricket has been a reluctant entrant to Twenty20 cricket and this win in the Twenty20 cricket match against South Africa should hopefully pave the way for more Twenty20 cricket for India

Twenty20 cricket matches need sporting wickets

Twenty20 cricket matches need sporting wickets?

Should Twenty20 cricket matches have sporting wickets? Twenty20cricket spectators have an assumption that Twenty20 cricket pitches are solely for the pleasure of the batsmen

Twenty20 cricket pitches are labelled as “poor cricket tracks” if the batting side in a Twenty20 cricket match scores less than 125 runs

Twenty20 cricket pitches-What’s wrong if there are sporting pitches for Twenty20 cricket matches

For Twenty20 cricket to get more interesting, there needs to be a mindset change to the prevalent mindset that Twenty20 cricket is only for batsmen and bowlers are around only to get carted all over the ground

Preparing sporting wickets for Twenty20 cricket matches will ensure that bowlers take an active interest in Twenty20 cricket matches and the Twenty20 games are less predictable and more interesting

Indian domestic Twenty20 cricket tournament before Twenty20 cricket World cup

Indian domestic Twenty20 cricket tournament before Twenty20 cricket world cup

The Indian domestic Twenty20 cricket tournament has been announced- This Indian domestic Twenty20 cricket tournament will follow the official ICC Twenty20 cricket rules

Indian cricket team to use domestic Twenty20 cricket tournament to select the team

The Indian cricket team has hardly played any Twenty20 cricket matches- they have played only one Twenty20 cricket international.

The domestic Twenty20 cricket tournament will be used primarily for:

  • Acclimatizing the Indian cricket players to Twenty20 cricket matches, which they have no experience in
  • Selecting the Indian cricket team for the Twenty20 cricket World cup in South Africa

Twenty20 cricket:Are spinners suited for Twenty20 cricket

Should you select spinners for Twenty20 cricket?

A couple of decades before Twenty20 cricket began, spinners were not selected for one day international cricket, since the cricketing argument was that spinners could be thrashed around the park very easily

Today, spinners are the mainstay of one day international cricket  and often bowl the last few overs of one day international cricket matches.

The trend of using spinners continues in Twenty20 cricket matches

In Twenty20 cricket, spinners will continue to play a major part- spinners such as Daniel Vettori,Harbhajan Singh,Chris Gayle and Monty Panesar will continue to be a dominant influence in twenty20 cricket

As Twenty20 cricket matures, there is also an increased focus on wickets rather than containing runs. A lot of international cricket teams have even been allout before the twenty overs of a Twenty20 cricket international are complete-Twenty20 cricket is not as short as it seems

In summary,Twenty20 cricket is a great opportunity for  classy spin bowlers around the world to showcase their talents

Twenty20 cricket-Gilchrist,world’s best Twenty20 cricket batsman

Twenty20 cricket-Gilchrist best Twenty20 cricket batsman

Twenty20 cricket-Gilchrist is the world’s best Twenty20 cricket batsman. In Twenty20 cricket, the first few overs are very often the key to set the stage for a large score. In Twenty20 cricket internationals,Gilchrist is today the best batsman to exploit the first few overs of the bowling attack

Twenty20 cricket’s top batsmen-Sanath Jayasurya and the Sachin Tendulkar of old could be worthy contendors

Sachin Tendulkar could of course rewrite Twenty20 cricket records just as he has dominated the one day international cricket scene over the last 17 years. Sachin will never be able to match the 41 centuries he has in one day international cricket, but Sachin still has a few years of international cricket to create a few Twenty20 cricket records

Sanath Jayasurya could use Twenty20 cricket to prolong his cricketing career. Sanath Jayasurya ,the hard hitting Sri Lankan opening batsman has just made a super comeback to international cricket matches, and despite his age, could use Twenty20 cricket to play international cricket for a few more years

Possible Twenty20 cricket champions – Shahid Afridi, Justin Kemp and Andrew Symonds

Twenty20 cricket seems to be an ideal platform for Shahid Afridi, but amazingly Shahid Afridi has not done too well in Twenty20 cricket. Anyways,a magic Twenty20 cricket knock from Shahid Afridi is not too far away

Twenty20 cricket could throw up champions in Justin Kemp and Andrew Symonds

In Twenty20 cricket,Justin Kemp and Andrew Symonds can make the cricket ball disappear to the cricket stands very easily and these huge batsmen are potential Twenty20 cricket superstars

Twenty20 cricket World cup teams decided

Twenty20 cricket World cup teams have been decided

For the Twenty20 cricket World cup in South Africa, Kenya and Scotland will join the ten ICC member international teams for the inaugural Twenty20 cricket World cup in South Africa

Scotland and Kenya will play the Twenty20 cricket finals of the qualifying ICC cricket tournament in Nairobi on Wednesday

Twenty20 cricket World cup could throw surprises in the form of Kenya and Scotland

The Twenty20 cricket World cup is a great opportunity for the Kenya and Scotland cricket teams to showcase their cricketing talent and also spring a few surprises

Since most top international cricket teams such as Australia,Pakistan,India and South Africa have hardly played any Twenty20 cricket matches, the Kenya and Scotland cricket teams have a great opportunity to cause a few upsets in the Twenty20 cricket World cup

Twenty20 cricket may not be only for Dhoni and Afridi

Twenty20 cricket may not be only for Dhoni and Afridi

People assume that Twenty20 cricket is only for slam-bang aggressive cricket batsmen like Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Shahid Afridi. But,Twenty20 cricket is far more than just cross-batted hitting

Twenty20 cricket is also about disciplined batting, playing to a planned strategy and some great bowling

Twenty20 cricket encourages great bowling

In Twenty20 cricket, even one maiden over bowled by a bowler, could earn the bowler the ‘man of the match’ award! That really presents a great opportunity for bowlers in Twenty20 cricket.

In reality, Twenty20 cricket is blamed as slam-bang cricket and favoring the batsmen quite unnecessarily. In Twenty20 cricket, one day international cricket or even Test cricket, when the pitches are as dead as some of the Indian pitches or the boundary is as close as the Wanderers stadium, there are bound to be huge scores by batsmen and batting is definitely going to dominate the bowling

Twenty20 cricket : Twenty overs is a long time

Like Twenty20 cricket, when one day international cricket was first played, batsmen started slogging from the first ball they played. Soon enough, batsmen who play Twenty20 cricket will realise that it makes sense to first get your eye in for at least a couple of overs before you attempt to slog the ball to the boundary.

In Twenty20 cricket,a lot of international cricket teams have become all out before even the Twenty overs are completed, showing that international cricket batsmen are still trying to understand the Twenty20 cricket game

In summary,Twenty20 cricket cannot be dismissed as simply a pastime – Twenty20 cricket is set to dominate world cricket!
