Indian cricket-the reluctant entrant to Twenty20 International cricket matches

The Indian cricket board had been dragging its feet over participating in Twenty20 international cricket matches for a long time. Finally, in December 2006,Indian cricket fans got their first opportunity to see their cricket team involved in a Twenty20 international cricket match.

India Vs South Africa Twenty20 - India low on confidence

Before India's inaugural Twenty20 international cricket match, the Indian cricket team was obviously low on confidence, having been blanked out in the one day international cricket series against South Africa

To rub it in, South Africa contemptuously did not select their top bowlers for the Twenty20 international cricket match against the Indian cricket team. India played with their best possible cricket team though Rahul Dravid was rested due to his finger injury.Sehwag had the honour of captaining the Indian cricket team for its inaugural Twenty20 cricket international.

Indian bowlers do incredibly well in inaugural Twenty20 international at the Wanderers.

The Indian bowlers once again bowled extremely well on a grassy strip in the inaugural Twenty20 international cricket match at the Wanderers cricket ground.

Zaheer Khan once again trapped his bunny,Graeme Smith in the Twenty20 international and that set the Indian cricket team on its way to a good start in the Twenty20 cricket match. Agarkar,Harbhajan and of course Sachin Tendulkar also bowled extremely well to restrict South Africa to a meagre score of 126/9 off 20 overs. Agarkar was the pick of the Indian bowlers in India's inaugural Twenty20 cricket international, but had to retire with a major injury.

Dinesh Kartik - India's new Twenty20 international hero

Trust Sehwag to come up with a cameo in India's inaugural Twenty20 international match- Sehwag displayed his usual aggressive batting to make a quickfire 34 off just 29 balls to set Indian cricket rolling in its pursuit of victory.

Dinesh Mongia then steadied the Indian cricket team after Sehwag's runout with a patient 35 that included a huge six. However, it was left to a newcomer,Dinesh Kartik to pull India to victory in its inaugural Twenty20 international cricket match.

Dinesh Kartik was recently dropped from the Indian cricket team since the much talented Mahendra Singh Dhoni had taken his place in the Indian cricket team as the wicketkeeper. But,Dinesh Kartik was quick to grab his place in history in India's first Twenty20 cricket international.

With nine runs to score off the last over, Dinesh Kartik went on his knees to sweep Peterson for a huge six to ensure India's victory against South Africa. Dinesh Kartik was of course the man of the match for India's first Twenty20 cricket international and the new hero of the Indian cricket team
